Hi.

I love words and the outdoors.  I spend most of my time in Long Beach, California.

Bye Bye Ojai

The men’s tennis team finished out their season at the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament on April 23-24. Although the Eagles dropped all of their singles matches in the first round, two of the doubles teams made it to the quarterfinal round.

Seniors duo Tayven Townsend and Brandon Chang defeated Lucas Tilly and Jesper Luding Johanssen from Cal Lutheran 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals. Townsend and Chang then dropped 6-0, 6-2 against Adrian Legarreta and Mitchell Maroscher of Grand Canyon University, who went on to win the men’s independent doubles tournament.

Sophomore Luke Mountain and freshmen David Garcia made up the other doubles team advancing to the quarterfinals. Mountain and Garcia defeated their opponent from Pomona-Pitzer 6-2, 7-5 and fell in the quarterfinals 6-1, 6-0.

Townsend walked away from the tournament with the most improved senior for the western region.

Chang and Townsend are the only seniors on the team this year. The two had a 6-17 record in doubles this year. The men will still have a relatively young roster next season with Andrew Greenfield leading the team as the sole senior for the 2016 season.

The Eagles finish out their season with a 10-14 overall record and 4-8 in conference play.
